he Irish squad qualified for the Paralympics in June 2015 after finsihing 6th in the Cerebral Palsy World Cup at St. George’s Park, England. This is a great opportunity for the best players in Ireland with Cerebral Palsy, Acquired Brain Injury or those who have experienced a stroke to represent Ireland at the largest and greatest sporting event in the world next year.
The Football Association of Ireland and Paralympics Ireland are partnering on this new campaign to find Ireland’s next Paralympic Football Stars. We will be promoting the opportunity for players with any of the aforementioned disabilities who are playing with their local club or higher to register for our national trial day in the FAI’s National Training Centre.
The campaign is searching for players from the ages of 16 to 30 years old who have any of the three impairments previously highlighted playing at a good standard with a club or up to representative or SSE Airtricity League level. We want your help to find new players to add to our Elite International Squad, to compete in what is one of the largest sporting events in the world. We will promote this opportunity through numerous media channels, national newspapers, clubs, leagues and coaches around Ireland with the hope that players who qualify will step forward and grap the opportunity of a lifetime with both hands.
The trial day will take place on Saturday December 12 at 12pm in the FAI’s National Training Centre, National Sports Campus, Abbotstown, Dublin 15.
