Sport Matters in Meath – A workshop for those interested in sports performance and development
Meath LSP are proud to announce that former Irish and Munster rugby star Niall Ronan will be speaking, and delivering a practical workshop in Navan on Saturday November 29th
The day’s event will have two workshops:
“Fitness Testing Made Easy”…. will focus on how to conduct various fitness tests such as speed, endurance, strength, flexibility and more. How to analysis the measurements and then discuss how to design an appropriate training plan. This workshop is ideal for coaches and player/athletes from both team and individual sports. Niall Ronan will deliver this workshop.
“Youth Player Development”….. What is weight training and at what age should you start? What is player or athlete burnout? How do you plan for the short term and for long term development? If these are questions you as a coach or player/athlete would like help with then Eddie Smith from Athletic Development Ireland will be on hand with his Youth Player Development Workshop.
Both workshops are suitable for coaches, managers, parents and players over 16. Both will have a theory and practical element so please wear suitable clothing.

2.30pm – 4.30pm Youth Player Development
Cost: €15 per workshop or €25 for both workshops (€25 includes lunch)

The next Disability Inclusion Training in Meath in Meath is taking place on Saturday 22nd November 2014 in Simonstown GFC from 10am-4pm. For Sports Coaches, Instructors, Sport leaders, Teachers, Parents, Volunteers and anyone interested or involved in the provision of Sport and Physical Activity for people with disabilities. Code of Ethics Child Welfare & Protection Training Workshops – Limited places remaining

This Child Welfare and Protection training is a 3 hour basic awareness workshop, looking at how we can keep adults and young people safe and happy within the club environment. This course is open to sports leaders, coaches, parents, children’s officers and other adults involved in the organisation of sport for young people. This module will help to create and maintain a safe and fun environment for young people within the sports club/organisation. If members from your club have completed Child Welfare and Protection Awareness training prior to 2012 it is important that they refresh to reflect updates to current legislation including the National Vetting Bureau Act 2012.

Men on the Move
Meath LSP’s Men on the Move project funded by the HSE has been a huge success so far with 93 men aged 30 years plus signed up to the programme which has been running in the 3 areas of Laytown/Bettystown, Kiltale and Dunshaughlin. Men on the Move is a free physical activity based programme rolled out over 18 weeks in blocks of 6 weeks each. The aim of the programme is to provide men aged 30 plus with more opportunities to become physically active. Other components of the programme include fitness testing, healthy eating, smoking cessation and stress management.
