Calendar Year Football Update

NECSL Competitive and Coaching Leagues will move to Calendar Year Season in March 2017.

NECSL COMPETITIVE LEAGUES 

12 – 17 Boys & 14, 16 Girls

Formation meeting for Competitive Leagues to be held on Monday 15th August 2016.

Registrations process as laid out at AGM applies for short season – all competitive league player registrations must be with NECSL Registrar on the Tuesday before short season starts on September 3rd 2016.

NECSL COACHING LEAGUES 

7 – 11 Boys & 8, 10, 12 Girls

For Coaching Leagues formation meeting will be mid September 2016 with block of 8 weeks commencing 1st or 2nd week in October 2016 and finishing end of November 2016.

The Coaching Leagues will then restart in March 2017 for approximately 24 weeks split over 3 x 8 week blocks.

AGE ELIGIBILITY

Age eligibility applicable for both seasons are based on full season 2017 as follows for both boys and girls:

NECSL Short Season Formations 2016

At the recent EGM the clubs of the league voted to move to Calendar year football in 2017. As a result, the league will commence in March 2017 and finish in November 2017.

The committee of the NECSL will accommodate a short season in September 2016 and finishing in December 2016.

• Divisional grading will be as in previous years – based on finishing places in the 2015-2016 season.
• All age groups will progress a year as normal (13s that competed in the 2015-2016 season will commence in September 2016 as 14s and this will be same for all age groups).
• Teams that secured promotion at the end of 2015-2016 season will be promoted for the short season starting this September
• Teams that finished in the relegation places will be relegated for short season starting in September.
• Divisional structures will be based on the number of entrants received at each age group.
